Yesterday, Wednesday, the Ministry of Tourism confirmed that the Kingdom had not considered submitting a joint bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup in cooperation with Egypt and Greece. The Ministry stated yesterday on its official Twitter account that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is always interested in hosting major sporting events as part of the domestic promotion of sports and tourism in line with the goals of the Kingdom’s 2030 vision.
Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal, sports minister, previously revealed that the Kingdom had not submitted any bids to host the World Cup in 2030, revealing the Kingdom’s plans for the future. Prince Abdulaziz said during statements to CNN when he was with the national team delegation for the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup: “We don’t have a bid to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup yet, but right now we are focusing on submitting a proposal to host football world championship. Asian Cup 2026 for women and Asian Cup 2027 for men.
He added: “We also won the bid to host the Asian Games in 2030, so now we are focusing on how to prepare the stadiums and how to prepare the infrastructure for the two events.”
