Xbox Live Gold to be Discontinued: Xbox Game Pass Core to Take Its Place
Microsoft Announces Discontinuation of Xbox Live Gold
Microsoft has disclosed that the Xbox Live Gold subscription service would be discontinued in September. Xbox Game Pass Core will take the place of the service above.
Similarities and Differences with Xbox Game Pass Core
There will be some differences between the new Xbox Game Pass Core service and the previous Xbox Live Gold subscription. Still, overall, the new service will function very similarly. To begin, about the similarities, the pricing will remain the same at $59.99 for the entire year or $9.99 each month. In addition, you will require the plan to participate in online multiplayer games using your Xbox consoles.
Now we will discuss the distinctions. The most significant change is that beginning in September, the monthly “Games with Gold” promotions will no longer be available. Instead, customers will have access to a selection of currently available titles through Xbox Game Pass, with the catalog “growing in the coming months.”
New Xbox Game Pass Core Games
Those games include the following:
- Among Us
- Descenders
- Dishonored 2
- DOOM Eternal
- Fable Anniversary
- Fallout 4
- Fallout 76
- Forza Horizon 4
- Gears 5
- Grounded
- Halo 5: Guardians
- Halo Wars 2
- Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice
- Human Fall Flat
- INSIDE
- Ori and the Will of the Wisps
- Psychonauts 2
- State of Decay 2
- Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited
If you have any titles on your account that were redeemed for Games with Gold in the past, those will continue to be available to you.
When the transition takes place starting on September 9, all current Xbox Live Gold subscribers will have their memberships automatically upgraded to Xbox Game Pass Core.
