The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom’s consent to the agreement to establish a truce in the sister Republic of Yemen and stressed the importance of opening humanitarian checkpoints in Taiz.
She commended the efforts of United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Envoy for Yemen Hans Grundberg to increase commitment to the current UN-sponsored truce, in line with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s March 2021 initiative to end the crisis in Yemen and achieve a comprehensive political solution.
Aspirations of the Yemeni people
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed the firm position of the Kingdom and support for everything that guarantees the security and stability of the Republic of Yemen and meets the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people.
She stressed that the truce is aimed primarily at achieving a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen and initiating a political process between the Yemeni government and the Houthis to pay civilian salaries.
The Yemeni Cabinet expressed “the leadership, government and people of Yemen in appreciation for the outstanding fraternal role of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, as well as their strong support for Yemen, the land and people in various fields.”
He also praised the efforts of Saudi institutions and bodies, led by the Saudi Yemen Development and Reconstruction Program and the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, and their role in rebuilding institutions, improving services and providing relief. Yemeni people in various parts of the country.
Implementation of the provisions of the truce
And the Yemeni cabinet earlier expressed its rejection of “continuation of international and international silence” before the Houthi militias’ refusal to implement the provisions of the truce and a statement made at a meeting of the Yemeni cabinet in the temporary capital of Aden said that “it is unacceptable to continue international and international silence and not stand seriously and firmly before the truce.
