Formula One Driver Lando Norris Confident Ahead of Singapore Grand Prix
Challenging Track in Singapore
Formula One is a demanding sport, and the Singapore Grand Prix is known for being particularly challenging. The street circuit in the city state is considered one of the toughest tracks on the F1 calendar. It features a street circuit layout and has one of the hottest climates for the night race.
Despite these difficulties, McLaren driver Lando Norris is optimistic about his chances in Singapore. The team has made significant upgrades to their MCL60 car, resulting in improved performance in the second half of the season. These upgrades were introduced in races in Austria, Britain, and Hungary.
As the updates were implemented, Norris achieved impressive results, securing two consecutive second-place finishes in Austria and Great Britain, and a fourth-place finish in Hungary. He earned 48 points in just three races, compared to only 12 points in the first eight races of the season.
“I want to say yes, I want to believe in it. So I’ll say yes.”

Challenges of the Marina Bay Street Circuit
However, Norris acknowledges that winning in Singapore will not be easy. In an interview with HaberTusba’s JP Ong, he described the Marina Bay street circuit as a “very tough track.” Street circuits, unlike purpose-built tracks, are known to be bumpy and prone to mistakes and tire locking. Achieving a good balance on the car can be difficult.
Unlike other circuits that have regular racing events, the Marina Bay circuit is used only once a year. This means there is less rubber on the track, which affects grip and cornering speeds. F1’s street circuits tend to be bumpier compared to regular race tracks.
Demands of the Singapore Grand Prix
Norris revealed that the heat and humidity in Singapore amplify the demands on concentration while racing. He explained that the intense focus required to avoid crashing or making mistakes is even higher compared to other circuits. The tropical weather patterns in Singapore also add an element of unpredictability. Last year’s race was affected by rain, causing a delayed start and increased humidity for all drivers.
Confident in Taking the Checkered Flag
When asked if he is confident about winning the Singapore Grand Prix, Norris responded, “I want to say yes, I want to believe in it. So I’ll say yes.” He expressed that McLaren is getting closer than ever to achieving their first victory. The team’s progress is evident as they compete with top teams like Ferrari, Mercedes, and Red Bull, who they should be fighting with every weekend. Norris is confident that McLaren can continue their upward trajectory and achieve even more success.
