Libya has appointed an ambassador to Qatar for the first time in six years, sources said Tuesday.
Mohammad al-Lafi, one of the notable ones in al-Zawiyah city in west of the country, has been appointed ambassador to the Gulf nation, the source told Anadolu Agency (AA).
Al-Lafi was delegated in the Forum of dialogue Libyan politician sponsored by the United Nations since 2020, which has contributed to the formation of the current interim executive authority in Libya.
He also tenuous various government positions, including head of Staff of the High Council of The State and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of local government.
Last July, Qatar appointed Khaled al-Dosari as ambassador to Libya for the first times since 2014 following the closure of son embassy in the alarm of the emergence of rival administrations in the oil-rich country.
Libya, for its part, had no ambassador in Qatar since October 2016.
