A number of leaders have begun to arrive at the COP27 climate conference, hosted by the Egyptian city of Sharm el-Sheikh, to attend the opening of the world leaders’ summit starting on Monday and lasting two days.
Approximately 130 heads of state and government will attend the summit to kick off the high-level segment of world leaders, which will witness the convening of six high-level meetings and roundtables starting today from 13:30 to 15:30 and discussions according to the Egyptian media. three themes: fair transition to delivery, food security and innovative finance, climate and development.
The activities of the Climate Summit began yesterday in Sharm el-Sheikh in the presence of heads of state and government and will last until 18 November.
The Climate Summit is an annual summit that brings together 197 countries to discuss climate change and what those countries are doing to address the issue.
Meetings are scheduled for heads of state, ministers and negotiators, as well as climate change activists, mayors, civil society representatives and leaders.
Egypt applied to host this year’s session of the conference and was selected as the only African country to have expressed a desire to host the summit for the benefit of Africa and the world at large.
