Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that what is happening now in Georgia evokes memories of what happened in 2014 during the events of the Kyiv “Maidan” in the Ukrainian capital.
Lavrov spoke about this in an interview with the Big Game program on Russia’s First Channel, where the minister continued that the bill on “foreign agents” is nothing more than a pretext for starting an attempt to change power in Georgia by force.
Lavrov also called the statements of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell about the situation in Georgia hypocritical, pointing to the “fundamentally different” position of the West regarding opposition protests in Georgia and Moldova.
According to the minister, the events in Georgia are “instructed” from abroad, motivated by the desire to create a hindrance on Russia’s borders.
