KVEA Dominates 75th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards
KVEA, the Telemundo-owned Los Angeles station, has emerged as the big winner at this year’s 75th Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards. The Spanish language station swept the key newscast categories, taking home the Emmys for evening, daytime, and morning newscasts. This is not the first time KVEA has been recognized for its outstanding daytime newscast, as it also won the award last year.
KVEA’s Impressive Win
KVEA’s dominance at this year’s Emmy Awards is evident in its eight wins, tying with local public broadcaster KCET. Despite the tie, KCET maintains its streak of winning the most awards for the seventh consecutive year. Following closely behind KVEA and KCET is the KCBS/KCAL duopoly with four wins. ABC-owned KABC and Spectrum SportsNet LA received three awards each.
KCET Leads in Nominations
KCET received the most nominations this year, with 24 nods, followed by KVEA with 20 nominations. Cable news outlet Spectrum News 1 also garnered 14 nominations.
Los Angeles Area Emmy Governors Award
The prestigious Los Angeles Area Emmy Governors Award was presented to Los Angeles Lakers broadcast analyst Stu Lantz. The award recognizes individuals, companies, or organizations that have made significant contributions to television broadcasting in the greater Los Angeles area.
