The General Directorate of Narcotics Control of Kuwait, in cooperation with the General Directorate of Customs, managed to seize a container from one of the countries containing a large number of various alcoholic beverages at the port of Shuweih before it was smuggled into the country.
This is happening as part of the follow-up of the senior leadership of the Kuwaiti Ministry of the Interior to combat smugglers and their patrons.
Deputy Prime Minister of Kuwait, Minister of Defense and Acting Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled, Minister of Trade and Industry and Minister of Social Affairs and Community Development Fahad Al-Shariaan in the presence of Deputy Minister of Interior Lieutenant General Anwar Al-Barjas and General Suleyman Al-Fahd, director of the General Administration of Customs, led an investigation into an attempt to smuggle about 23,000 bottles of various alcohol. Its market value is estimated at about one and a half million Kuwaiti dinars into the country through the port of Shuweih.
The Minister of the Interior expressed gratitude and appreciation to the staff of the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics for their sincere efforts to strike successively against smugglers with all their strength and determination.
The Minister also thanked and praised the General Administration of Customs for its constant cooperation and intensive work with the employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the fight against smuggling attempts by bringing them into the country through air, land or sea ports.
