Saudi Arabia to Co-Chair High-Level Conference for Humanitarian Response in Sudan and Region
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will co-chair a high-level conference to announce commitments to support humanitarian response in Sudan and the region. The conference will take place in the first month of Dhu al-Hijjah 1444 AH, which corresponds to June 19th, 2023 AD. Saudi Arabia will co-chair the conference with Qatar, Egypt, Germany, the United Nations, the European Union, and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.
Commitments to Support Humanitarian Response
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its position as a brotherly Sudanese people, including the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The Kingdom aims to provide various humanitarian assistance worth (100) million US dollars and organize a popular campaign to alleviate the suffering that the Sudanese people are going through. Additionally, Saudi Arabia will evacuate their own citizens, citizens of brotherly and friendly countries, as well as employees of international organizations from the Republic of Sudan.
Continuation of Political Dialogue
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also announced the Kingdom’s continuation, together with the United States of America, in facilitating and rapprochement between the two sides of the conflict in the negotiations in Jeddah. The aim is to alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people and end the crisis through political dialogue.
