The United Nations Office of Humanitarian Affairs OCHA thanked the donors who contributed $268 million in response to the $1 billion humanitarian funding appeal in Turkey after the earthquake. Representative Jens Laerke confirmed that the appeal was 27% funded and that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the United States of America, Kuwait, the European Commission and the United Nations Emergency Fund are the largest donors, urging countries to support and contribute to funding this appeal .
He explained that the aid comes in support of the Turkish government’s response, noting that nine million people were directly affected by the earthquake two months ago and three million people were displaced.
He said: “United Nations humanitarian agencies provided non-food assistance to more than 4.1 million people and emergency food assistance to 3 million people, while more than 700,000 people received support to improve their living quarters, including tents, shelter for assistance. units, and repair tools. Tents, 1.6 million people received assistance in the field of water supply, sanitation and hygiene, about a million liters of drinking water were delivered.
He noted that the Turkish Ministry of Health has received 4.6 million doses of vaccine, 16 mobile medical clinics, as well as medicines and medical supplies for reproductive health and treatment of injuries and injuries.
