The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has formally rejected Al Ahly’s request to postpone the African Champions League final against Moroccan Vidad, the African Football Confederation announced Thursday.
A statement released on the CAF’s official website said that CAS has ruled in its favor by rejecting the Egyptian club’s request to postpone the Champions League final scheduled for next Monday, May 30.
The statement added: “The hosting of this match was awarded to Morocco after Senegal, which was the only other country to comply, withdrew its bid.”
He continued: “The African Football Confederation is committed to the principles of fairness, fairness and equality between all clubs and member federations and everyone will be treated fairly.”
He concluded by saying: Al Ittihad wishes Al Ahly and Vidad success in the CAF Champions League final.
