The KP125M is TP-first Link’s Matter-certified smart plug, which was announced today as the launch of the Kasa Smart brand by TP-Kasa Link’s Smart division. As a result of the connectivity provided by Matter, the KP125M can link up with HomeKit, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, and Samsung SmartThings systems.
As long as there is a HomeKit Matter hub, which includes the HomePod, iPad, HomePod mini, and Apple TV, Matter-compatible devices are added to a HomeKit setup function similar to HomeKit-enabled devices. This is the case even if the Matter-compatible devices are not themselves HomeKit-enabled. If other people in the house use a different device compatible with a smart home platform from Google, Amazon, or Samsung, the Kasa Smart Plug can also be used with that platform, provided an appropriate Matter hub is readily available.
In addition to its capabilities as a scheduler and timer, the Kasa Smart KP125M can track energy consumption over time, which can help keep an eye on monthly power bills.
According to TP-Link, the KP125M has a space-saving design that is flame-retardant and is constructed to prevent it from obstructing additional outlets. It is designed to operate over Bluetooth. Combined with a HomeKit setup, it is also compatible with the Home app and voice commands issued through Siri.
Amazon.com is the place to purchase the KP125M Kasa Smart Wi-Fi Plug Slim, which comes in a two-pack and costs $40.
