The Saudi Arabian karate team placed fourth during the 13th Arab Men’s and Women’s Karate Championships held in Egypt at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday and Saturday 29-30 July 2022, with 11 gold and bronze medals. medals in kata, group and individual wrestling competitions, in the presence of the President of the Saudi Arabia Karate Federation, Dr. Musharraf Al-Shehri and the head of the delegation, a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Arabia Karate Federation, Turki Bukhari.
The Saudi Arabia national team included 9 male and female Olympians in kata and wrestling competitions, Ali Barnavi won the gold medal in the men’s wrestling competition in the weight up to 75 kg, and Sanad Sufyani in the weight +84. kg, while Muhammad Al-Maliki won a bronze medal in the -84 kg weight category, and in the men’s collective fight the team won a bronze medal, and in individual competitions in kata Misfir Al-Asmari won a bronze medal, and in women’s martial arts bronze medals won by: Wayne Al-Shehri in the 50kg division, Noura Al-Rashed in the 55kg division and Lama Abdulaziz in the 61kg division, and Loujain Al-Harbi in the -68kg division, in addition to winning the bronze medal in the women’s team in martial arts competitions, and in individual kata competitions, Manal Al-Zaid won a bronze medal.
This participation is in line with the federation’s strategic plan to improve its ranking among federations at the global level, and also in preparation for the upcoming international participation in light of what is happening in the sector.
