Italian football club Fiorentina announced on Friday the signing of Serbian striker Luka Jovic from Real Madrid, champions of the Spanish League.
“Fiorentina is delighted to announce the signing of Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic on a permanent basis,” Fiorentina said in a statement, without specifying the duration or value of the contract.
Italian media indicated that Fiorentina did not compensate Real Madrid for the inclusion of Jović, who has two years left on his contract, noting that the royal club would receive 50 per cent of the Serbian striker’s future sale price.
Jovic, 24, who joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 from Eintracht Frankfurt, failed to establish himself in the royal team, scoring just three goals in two seasons before being loaned to Eintracht Frankfurt last year.
In contrast to his career at the club, the Serbian striker has distinguished himself with his country, scoring nine goals in 26 appearances.
The 23-year-old Jovic played remarkably for Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2018-2019 season, scoring 17 goals, notably in the Bundesliga.
Real Madrid have signed the Serbian talent until 2025, but he has failed to live up to the hopes placed on him by the royal team, who spent 60 million euros to acquire him in the summer of 2019.
