The Jordanian government today condemned the Israeli occupation authorities’ proposal to build more than a thousand new settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories. Jordanian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ambassador Sinan Majali called the settlement activity egregious and rude. violation of international law, chief among which is Security Council Resolution 2334.
Ambassador Majali stressed that the settlement policy, in general and in detail, is a violation of international law and undermines the foundations of peace and efforts to achieve it, as well as the chances of a two-state solution based on international legal resolutions, stressing also that the unilateral actions of Israel, by the occupying Power, in the form of settlement building and expansion, land confiscation and displacement of Palestinians, are illegal, illegal, rejected and condemned acts that constitute a serious violation of international humanitarian law.
