Israeli President Isaac Herzog yesterday formally instructed former Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to form a new government based on recommendations he received from members of the Knesset following the November 1 elections.
Netanyahu said the election results would be a regional “beacon”.
Netanyahu must choose a government team within 28 days.
Netanyahu, who is now tasked with forming a government, has 28 days to assemble his ministerial team and can get another 14 days if needed.
Netanyahu is expected to form a government that will be the most extremist in Israel’s history, raising many concerns both inside and outside the country.
Netanyahu has dismissed fears that the election results are a “bad omen” for Israeli democracy and says they will become a regional “beacon”.
