Organization of Islamic Cooperation Secretary-General Hussein Ibrahim Taha welcomed the swearing-in of Rashad Muhammad al-Alimi, President of the Yemeni Presidential Leading Council, and members of the Council before Parliament at its meeting yesterday in Aden, Yemen’s provisional capital.
His Excellency conveyed his sincere congratulations to the President and the members of the Presidential Governing Council, as well as to the people of Yemen, wishing the Council every success in its historic mission.
The Secretary General confirmed that the General Secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has received good news about the establishment of the Council, which is an important achievement that will open new horizons for a peaceful solution and a new stage in the history of Yemen.
The Secretary-General indicated that the Yemeni people look forward to the efforts that the Presidential Leadership Council will make at various levels to end the Yemeni crisis, ensure security, stability and economic and social development to alleviate the human suffering of the Yemenis, efforts that require every support and encouragement.
