What is The Watchers Plot?
The Watchers is based on the same-named A.M. Shine book and will follow 28-year-old Mina as she travels through the countryside of Western Ireland. After Mina’s car breaks down, she has to keep walking to look for help. As night falls and she walks through the forest, a strange woman screams at her and tells her to hurry into a concrete bunker nearby. Inside, she meets three strangers who look just as scared as she does. When the door is closed, leaving them in the dark, an automatic light turns on, showing them a glass wall that leads to the outside.
When the sun goes down, underground monsters emerge from the forest and start to watch the people trapped inside the enclosure. The four strangers are being shown off like animals in a zoo. Mina needs to learn what The Watchers want from them or, even worse, what will happen if someone doesn’t enter the bunker before nightfall. One thing that all of Mina’s fellow captives have in common is that they all come from places where no one will look for them.
Will Mina be able to get out of the forest before it gets dark if she runs away? People have said the book is like a mix of Cabin in the Woods and Lost. Ishana and her father are writing the screenplay, so the story seems in good hands.
