The Iranian authorities announced the arrest of 12 people of the banned Baha’i religion in the country on suspicion of links with Israel, the sworn enemy of the Islamic Republic, an agent of Zionism in the north of the country, citing “surveillance and arrest of 12 members of the Baha’i organization, an agent of Zionism, in different cities of the province” .
She added: “The two leaders of this spy organization were trained by the Zionist organization House of Justice, located in the occupied territories, and formed a spy cell with elements of their organization throughout the province of Mazandaran.”
On August 1, the Iranian Ministry of Security (Intelligence) announced the arrest of a number of followers of the Baha’i faith on suspicion of espionage, without specifying their number.
In late 2018, the UN General Assembly passed a resolution calling on Tehran to stop “harassment”, “intimidation” and “arbitrary arrests”.
