The head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, Mohammad Eslami, announced his country’s rejection of a draft resolution submitted by Western countries to the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency, which condemns Tehran for refusing to cooperate with the UN body. This was reported yesterday by the official media.
The Islamist said: The US, France, Germany and the UK have prepared a draft resolution and submitted documents that they consider to be incorrect, and this is rejected, given that “the adoption of a policy of maximum pressure and the promotion of accusations by the forces of arrogance (meaning the US and its allies) and the Zionists , such is the nature of those who are addicted to sanctions and drug addicts.”
The Islamic stance came hours after Western diplomats reported that Washington, Berlin, Paris and London had submitted to the IAEA Board of Governors meeting this week a new draft resolution condemning Iran for its lack of cooperation on the issue of undeclared sites.
The issue is causing tension between Iran and both the agency and Western countries led by the US, France, Britain and Germany, which are all parties to the 2015 agreement on Tehran’s nuclear program, which Washington withdrew from in 2018.
