iOS 17 Brings Major Changes to iPhone’s Phone App
Introduction
Apple’s iOS 17 will introduce significant updates to the iPhone’s phone app, offering users a range of new features and a fresh user interface design.
New Features
The newly updated Phone app includes real-time voicemail transcriptions, the ability to choose contact photos, and a revamped user interface with a bolder font.
Button Placement Change
One notable change in iOS 17 is the relocation of the “End Call” button. In previous versions, it was centered at the bottom of the screen, but now it has been moved to the lower right-hand corner.
This adjustment may require longtime iPhone users to retrain their muscle memory, as they might accidentally press the old button location.
Public Release and Previous Interface Changes
iOS 17 is currently in beta and will be released to the public in the fall. Apple has a history of rearranging user interfaces to improve ergonomics, such as moving key buttons closer to the bottom of the screen.
In a previous beta version of iOS 15, Apple changed the Safari browser’s design by placing the URL bar at the bottom. However, the final version allowed users to customize the placement.
Future Changes
It remains uncertain whether the new call screen in iOS 17 will undergo further modifications or become customizable in the future.
