President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan attended the ceremony held at the presidential complex and said in the past 19 years, under the governments of son ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), the number of people with employee disabilities in the public sector reached nearly 192,000.
Those officially assigned to their posts in 81 provinces had civil servants with different levels of education, from primary school to university.
Under Turkish laws, each business employing 50 or more the personnel is required allocate 3% of vacancies for the disabledwhile this rate is 4% for public agencies. The people of the disabled community are required attend a personnel selection exclusive review for them for work in the public sector. For many in the communityemployment is an incentive for legality car it helps them achieve better results social inclusion.
Erdoğan said at the ceremony that citizens with disabilities were “more visible” in both the public and private sectors and government has been also help them start up their own businesses. He noted that some 3,200 disabled citizens benefited from free loans of up at $4,770 (65,000 TL) as part of the start program.
“In the past disabled people of this country were confined to their homes of any human treatment. Some disabled people were chained to their rooms and not allowed to go there out. Disabled people used to face mistreatment and harassment when they went out. Have a disabled member of the family used to mean extra financial charged for households. Our government look for resolve all these issues,” he said.
Erdoğan noted that they prioritize financial help for families with disabled people for their care at home along with incentives for disabled students to participate in education.
