According to media reports, police said armed robbers broke into the home of Barcelona striker Pierre Eymeric-Aubameyang early Monday morning and attacked the player and his wife to force them to open the safe and steal jewelry.
Spanish newspaper El Pais reported that the footballer and his wife, Alisha, suffered minor injuries. Aubameyang, 33, did not confirm any details of the theft. Police said this is the second time in the last two months that Aubameyang’s home in Castelldefels, a suburb of Barcelona, has been robbed, although the player and his family were not at home at the time of the first break-in.
According to media reports, four masked men broke into his home on Monday and threatened the player and his family with firearms. They beat Aubameyang and his wife and forced them to open the safe to steal the jewels. This is not the first time famous players have been robbed in Europe.
In December, Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo was attacked at his home in England and Benfica defender Nicolas Otamendi was attacked during a robbery at his home in Portugal. According to police, the houses of Gerard Pique, Ansu Fati, Jordi Alba, Samuel Umtiti and Coutinho were robbed during matches in Barcelona. Similar incidents have also been reported between players in Madrid, Seville and Valencia.
