The Saudi fencing team won the bronze medal for fencing at the Asian Under-23 Championships currently taking place in Kuwait for the first time in the history of Saudi fencing in the under-23 category. The Saudi greens were represented by: Jawad Al-Dawud, Omar Al-Akkas, Nawaf Al-Khalidi, Hussain Al-Tawil, as well as technical director Mohamed Fouad and national team coach Maher Shoru.
Saudi Arabia beat Iran 45/39 in the quarter-finals to take bronze after losing to Kazakhstan.
For his part, the head of the Saudi Arabian Fencing Federation and the head of the delegation of the national team, Ahmed Al-Sabban, congratulated the winners on this achievement, which was recorded for the first time in the history of fencing under 23.
Al-Sabban attributed this achievement to the combined superiority and superiority of Saudi fencing at junior and youth level, so he began to reap the rewards of investing in players under 23, emphasizing that work continues to complement success with achievements (of the public) by drawing attention to their constant preparation for upcoming events such as the Combat World Art Championship 2023, which will be hosted by the Kingdom.
