Google Updates Pixel Buds Pro with Exciting Features
This fall, Google is introducing exciting updates to the Pixel Buds Pro. These updates include conversation detection, listening stats, and Bluetooth Super Wideband support for better call quality.
Conversation Detection and Noise Reduction
During its recent Pixel event, Google revealed that the Pixel Buds Pro utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to detect when you start speaking. It then switches to transparency mode, reducing background noise and enhancing your voice clarity. When you finish speaking, the earbuds seamlessly switch back to active noise cancellation mode, allowing you to enjoy uninterrupted music.
Apple’s Influence on Conversational Awareness
In a GamingIdeology interview, an Apple executive discussed their Conversational Awareness feature, which uses an accelerometer to detect jaw movements alongside microphone input to identify when someone is talking. While it remains unclear if Google employs similar techniques, this highlights how both companies prioritize enhancing user experiences during conversations.
Improved Call Quality with Bluetooth Super Wideband
The new update also introduces compatibility with Bluetooth Super Wideband technology, designed to enhance voice quality during calls. When paired with a Pixel phone, these buds offer improved audio bandwidth, resulting in clearer communication for the person on the other end of the call.
Low-Latency Gaming Mode
Google is rolling out a low-latency gaming mode, cutting audio latency in half for select games. This brings them in line with competitors like OnePlus, who have offered a similar feature for their earbuds when used with their own phones.
Listening Stats and Volume Suggestions
Additionally, the update introduces listening stats, allowing you to monitor your audio levels and receive suggestions to lower the volume if necessary. This promotes healthier listening habits and helps prevent potential hearing damage.
Pixel Buds Pro Web App for Chromebooks
Google is releasing a Pixel Buds Pro web app specifically designed for Chromebooks. This app enables users to easily adjust settings and install firmware updates without the need for additional devices or software.
New Colors Available
While there won’t be a Pixel Buds Pro sequel this year, Google is offering two new colors: Bay and Porcelain. These fresh color options give users more choices to match their personal style.
