Months before the biggest football event, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Ghana is gearing up with an exceptional plan to compete in the World Cup.
This plan is presented in the naturalization of many famous players of Ghanaian origin in Europe to participate in the 2022 World Cup in an attempt to replicate the success of the Black Stars 2010 World Cup when the team reached the quarter-finals. In this context, Athletic Bilbao star Inaki Williams announced that he represents the Ghana national team, which came as a new surprise, boosting the team’s attacking power.
Williams had previously represented Spain in one international match, prompting the Ghana Federation to move and convince him, especially since his parents are Ghanaian, allowing him to obtain Ghanaian citizenship despite being born in Bilbao.
In addition to Williams, there are English Premier League stars, most notably Brighton star Tariq Lamptey, Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi and Arsenal rising striker Eddie Nketiah. the reality that they would not represent the “three lions” at the World Championships.
Brilliant Southampton defender Mohamed Salisou has also announced his readiness to represent his country, despite not having played in any of his previous matches against the Black Stars.
The Ghana national team also convinced three German youth team players to represent Ghana: Stefan Ambrosius (Hamburg), Ransford Yeboah Königsdorfer (Hamburg) and Patrick Pfeiffer (Darmstadt).
The International Football Association allows players to transfer the team they represent to another team if they do not play more than 3 international matches with the first team, and these three matches must not be included in major tournaments.
This prompted the Ghanaian team to reintroduce the migratory birds, especially those who have not played many international matches and are of Ghanaian origin.
