A man died when a lion attacked a zoo in Accra, the capital of Ghana, after breaking into an animal enclosure, according to a government agency responsible for wildlife protection.
“During a routine patrol, Accra Zoo authorities spotted a middle-aged man jumping over the security fence and entering the lion enclosure,” the Ghana Forestry Commission said in a statement.
The committee added that “the perpetrator was injured in a lion attack and his death was confirmed as a result of his wounds, and his body was taken to the morgue.”
The lion, lioness and their cubs were temporarily placed in a cage while the body was removed from the barn.
The reasons that prompted this man to penetrate the fence have not yet been established. The zoo called on police to launch an investigation.
