The German newspaper Welt reported, citing informed sources, that the German government had discussed with the US authorities the purchase of 3,000 pipes from the bankrupt Nord Stream 2 AG.
The newspaper notes that US sanctions are no longer an obstacle to buying pipes, provided that the money is not sent to Moscow.
Government sources told the newspaper that all necessary questions had been clarified with the US authorities. It remains only to look for a reliable solution so that the money reaches the Swiss official of the bankrupt company and does not flow away.
The newspaper reported that the German Ministry of Economics is currently negotiating a contract with a representative of Nord Stream 2 AG.
He noted that connecting the planned LNG station would take much longer if the pipelines were built from scratch.
