His Highness emphasized the importance of resolving political conflicts and tensions that hinder the adoption of effective measures to counter the global challenges that increase economic fragmentation.
His Highness stressed that addressing climate change requires continued collective action and increasing the speed and effectiveness of multilateral mechanisms to adapt to changing conditions and new threats, noting that the leading economies represented in the G20 represent a unique situation in addressing these challenges, calling for the importance guiding the agenda of the ministerial meeting towards improving conditions conducive to dialogue and peace, and reducing the negative impact of geopolitical competition on the global economy.
His Highness explained that expectations indicate that about 8% of the world’s population could face hunger in 2030, leaving 660 million people without energy, and that this could delay the world from achieving major sustainable development goals due to lack of food and energy security.
His Highness stated that investment in all energy sources, including conventional sources, must be supported to ensure access and meet demand, noting that the implementation of the circular carbon economy concept endorsed by the G20 in 2020 is the most efficient and comprehensive approach to achieving clean energy . zero emissions with a sustainable economy.
His Highness the Foreign Minister added that some 1.8 billion people are affected by conflict and they make up 24% of the world’s population, which obliges the international community to speed up support and mitigate instability spreading beyond borders, stressing that the Kingdom will continue to support countries in need. , building on its leadership in providing humanitarian and development assistance.
