Fox News said on Tuesday that veteran cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski was killed while covering the war in Russia in Ukraine.
Zakrzewski was injured in the same attack which hospitalized Fox News State Department reporter Benjamin Hall. Journalists came under incoming fire while in a vehicle just outside of the capital, Kyiv.
“He is with great sadness and heavy heart that we share the news this morning about our beloved cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski,” CEO Suzanne Scott said. in an internal note. “Peter was killed in Horenka, outside of Kyiv, Ukraine. Peter was with Benjamin Hall yesterday at news gathering when their vehicle was struck by the arrival fire.”
Zakrzewski was a London-based warzone photographer who had covered conflicts in Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria, according to Scott. Additional information on Hall’s condition was not immediately available.
Zakrzewski and Hall were attacked one day after American journalist Brent Renaud was shot dead on The suburbs of Kyiv after apparently being under fire Russian troops.
Juan Arredondo, photojournalist who was traveling with Renaud, was also injured and hospitalized when their vehicle was ambushed.
The Russian War against Ukraine, which started on February 24, a drawn international condemnation, leads to financial punishments on Moscow and stimulated an exodus of global Russian companies.
