Forza Motorsport Will be Missing Three Key Features at Release
On October 10, Forza Motorsport will be available for the Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms, but it will do so without three features that are very popular.
The Missing Features
The developer, Turn 10 Studios, has stated that the game will not have split-screen multiplayer, the option to compete against AI in any of the available multiplayer modes, or a spectator mode. According to the creative director, Chris Esaki, the company has its reasons for the judgments that it has made.
The Absence of Split-Screen Multiplayer
According to Esaki, the “heavy investment” that the development team made in new graphical elements and the game’s rendering engine is the reason why split-screen multiplayer is not included in the game.
“Unfortunately, [it] made split-screen really difficult to implement, and it is also not going to be in for launch,” he stated. “It is not going to be ready for launch.”
The Reason for No Spectator Mode and AI in Multiplayer
Esaki explained that the lack of a spectator mode and computer-controlled players in multiplayer races was intentional because it went against the objectives of the development studio for the game.
“Having players come into a featured multiplayer event and take player slots, and then having them just watch the event? This is not really the type of competition we had in mind,” he remarked. “Similarly, racing against AI in featured multiplayer, with all of its potential impacts on your safety rating, also didn’t make a whole lot of sense to have and is not going to be available for us at launch.”
