Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammad Shtayyeh denounced the horrific crime that killed the freed captive Ghufran Haroun Hamid, holding the occupation fully responsible for its consequences.
Shtayyeh called on the international community to activate international resolutions to boycott the occupying state and punish the perpetrators, stating: “Organized terrorism that repeats its crimes due to lack of deterrent punishment and failure to hold perpetrators accountable means another crime will be committed.”
According to the Israeli army, Gufran was killed by Israeli soldiers yesterday when she tried to approach a soldier with a knife in her hand. The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed: “The death of a young woman, Gufran, after she was shot by occupying soldiers near the Al-Arub refugee camp, north of Hebron.”
“The bullet pierced the chest on the left side and exited on the right,” the department said.
For its part, the Israeli army said in a statement: “A stabbing attempt” was carried out at the entrance to the Al-Arub refugee camp north of Hebron in the occupied West Bank, and confirmed that “soldiers responded with live shots without causing any casualties.” among the army.
According to the official Palestinian news agency (WAFA), the young woman is 31 years old. For its part, the Commission for Prisoners Affairs called Gufran and Rasna “the released captive.”
The commission stated: “Varasna is a released prisoner who was arrested by the occupying authorities last January and then released in April.”
