An informed source confirmed to Reuters today Wednesday that the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar will start a day earlier than its original date if the International Federation (FIFA) agrees to host the opening ceremony and host nation’s first match. 20 November.
The original plan was to have an opening ceremony ahead of Qatar’s November 21 match against Ecuador, which created an odd situation with two more matches before the ceremony.
The opening ceremony is traditionally held before the start of the first match of the tournament.
Senegal’s match against the Netherlands in Group A and England’s match against Iran in Group B were due to take place before Monday’s opening ceremony.
