A Crazy but Exciting Challenge
In March 2020, Animal Crossing: New Horizons was released and became one of the most popular games for the Nintendo Switch, selling over 42 million copies worldwide. However, for veteran players, the game has lacked new content in recent years, leading them to take on increasingly crazy challenges. One player, MayPlaysTV, has taken on a unique mission – to see all 43 works of art from the game in real life. This ambitious challenge has taken MayPlaysTV to 3 continents, 10 countries, 17 cities, and 29 museums. The journey started in May last year and will finally conclude in August 2023.

Art in Animal Crossing
Animal Crossing: New Horizons features a wide range of artworks, including masterpieces like The Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci and the Venus de Milo by Alexandros of Antioch, both housed in the Louvre Museum in Paris. The game also includes The Sunflowers by Vincent Van Gogh, located in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam, and a pair of two-panel screens depicting Raijin and Fujin, the gods of lightning and wind from Tawaraya, which can be found in the National Museum in Tokyo. One interesting element of the game is the inclusion of a black market trader named Rounard, who sells counterfeit artworks to players. The challenge lies in distinguishing the authentic pieces from the fakes, encouraging players, especially younger audiences, to develop a keen eye for art.
