Senegalese President Maki Sall congratulated the African Islamic Union, which has over 100 million followers, on the recent signing of an agreement with the Muslim World League.
In a telephone conversation with African Islamic Union President Sheikh Muhammad Al Mahi bin Sheikh Ibrahim Nias, he called the agreement “historic” and stems from the first Muslim World League’s appeal to Muslims through their universal qibla. , as well as the official responsibility of the African Union for meeting the needs of Muslims and providing them with assistance.
The agreement comes as part of the World Muslim League’s efforts to bring together the views of Muslim scholars on their major issues.
The agreement included several points, most notably: the establishment of the first West African Council of Scholars “under the auspices of the Muslim World League” and “under the auspices of the Government of Senegal”, the activation of the content of the Al-Mukarram Meccan Document in the educational, religious and cultural spheres, and the training of imams in the Western Africa, including educating them about the content of the Mecca al-Mukarram document, in addition to establishing a “periodic” forum for West African scholars, starting in Senegal’s capital, Dakar, and implementing specialized programs to serve the Arabic language and its culture.
