The Qatari embassy in Paris, France, has announced the death of one of its embassy guards.
The embassy said on its Twitter account: “As a result of a heinous and unjustifiable crime, one of the embassy guards was killed in Paris this morning, Monday morning, and as soon as the crime occurred, the authorities arrested the suspect and launched an investigation.” She added: “We are waiting for the results of the investigation and call for respect for the privacy of the family of the deceased. The Embassy expresses a sense of sadness and regret in connection with this crime and expresses its deepest condolences to the family of the deceased.”
And the French police announced the arrest of a suspect. The Paris prosecutor’s office said today, Monday, that a man was killed in the Qatari embassy in Paris, another was arrested as part of the investigation.
“I can confirm that an investigation into the incident with the murder was launched today,” the prosecutor general’s office added, saying it was not yet clear if weapons were used in the incident. “The circumstances of the guard’s death have not yet been precisely established,” he added. A source close to the investigation said that a fight broke out between the two men in front of the embassy building.
