Egypt expressed deep concern about the intention of the Israeli authorities to demolish a number of Palestinian villages in the Masafer Yatta area of the occupied West Bank and the risk that thousands of Palestinians would be displaced from those villages.
In a statement today, the Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its opposition to the announcement of a plan to build some 4,000 new settlements in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, noting that the two steps constitute a flagrant violation of international law and the solution of international legitimacy.
She stressed the complete condemnation of settlement policies in the Palestinian territories, whether through the construction of new settlements or the expansion of existing ones, as well as the confiscation of land and the displacement of Palestinians, noting that the continuation of such unilateral measures fuels tension and tension, fuels the cycle of violence and undermines the possibility of achieving solutions based on the coexistence of two states and the establishment of a just and comprehensive peace in the region.
