At least 48 people have died in attacks by the Kodeko (Congo Development Co-operative Society) militia in the eastern province of Ituri. United Nations Radio in the Republic of the Congo reported that the militia also burned and looted 150 houses and shops in the province.
She added that the attack first took place in the towns of Kilo-Itat, Matete and Itendi, and then spread to other villages, and two local medical facilities were looted by the militias.
She noted that during the clash with the militias, the army of the Democratic Republic of the Congo “neutralized” 14 attackers and wounded four more.
