Dissident director Jaafar Panahi arrested in Iran

Authorities in Tehran on Monday arrested opposition filmmaker Jafar Panahi, one of the most famous names in contemporary Iranian cinema, the Mehr news agency reported. The agency said “Jaafar Panahi was arrested today while he was visiting the prosecutor’s office in Tehran to investigate the case of another director, Muhammad Rasul Af,” which local media confirmed last Friday, his arrest and his colleague Mustafa Al Ahmad. on charges of “disturbance of the peace”.
