On the sidelines of the G20 summit, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, where the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest today, Tuesday. Both sides also expressed concern about threats to the region, including Iran’s behavior. At the same time, Sunak stressed that he hopes to continue working with Saudi Arabia to stabilize energy markets.
The meeting came after the Crown Prince met with French President Emmanuel Macron and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. On Monday evening, Prince Mohammed bin Salman left for Indonesia to attend the G20 summit in Bali, where he is leading the Kingdom’s delegation.
It is noteworthy that in addition to the Russian dossier, the G20 will discuss food and energy security, as well as announce initiatives related to the Epidemic Control Fund, the reform of multilateral development banks and others. A senior US official said earlier today that the summit’s final statement would contain a strong condemnation of most of the states involved in the Russian-Ukrainian war. Speaking to reporters on condition of anonymity, he said: “I think you will see that most G20 members see this war as the main source of tremendous economic and human suffering in the world.”
