Today in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, the work of the International Forum on Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism, organized by the Arab University of Security Sciences. Naifa in collaboration with the Arab Banking Union, the UN Center for Counter-Terrorism and the Central Bank of Egypt concluded with the participation of 350 experts from the banking, financial, judicial and security sectors from 21 countries.
The forum participants recommended strengthening partnerships and cooperation between the public and private sectors in order to find more support in the fight against money laundering and terrorist financing and its prevention, as well as cooperation in the development of an Arab manual on risk assessment mechanisms. money laundering and terrorist financing at the national level.
They stressed the importance of focusing on the risks of crimes related to terrorist financing, including the development of mechanisms and procedures to combat and prevent it, as well as the importance of the use of modern technological technologies by regulators, financial institutions and law enforcement agencies in the prevention of money laundering and financing crime. terrorism.
They urged early preparations for the peer review process of anti-money laundering and terrorist financing systems, drawing on the outstanding Arab and international best practices in the application of targeted financial sanctions, as well as investing in the training and qualifications of anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing agency staff scientific and technical terms.
The forum participants called for the strengthening of national procedures related to transparency and support for the application of preventive measures by financial institutions, as well as the formation of an Arab working group to study technical problems in the field of combating money laundering and terrorist financing.
