Polling stations in Turkey opened today, Sunday, for parliamentary and presidential elections. Nearly 61 million people are eligible to vote in elections, including almost 5 million first-time voters. And the Turks abroad have already voted. The united opposition candidate and leader of the Republican People’s Party, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, is running against Erdoğan. A small opposition candidate, Sinan Ogan, is also running: On Friday night, at least nine national TV channels aired Erdogan’s campaign interview, and Kılıçdaroğlu delivered a three-minute speech to his supporters on his Twitter account.
