After U.S. police announced on Monday that 6 people had been killed in a shooting en route to an Independence Day parade in the upscale Highland Park suburb of Chicago, Illinois, authorities confirmed the arrest of the perpetrator after his vehicle was seen on the highway outside the city.
The statement said that the weapon used by the attacker “Robert Cremo” to carry out the attack was found.
He also posted his first photo confirming that 24 other people were injured in the crash.
6 bodies in 10 minutes
Notably, the US Independence Day parade was abruptly halted when gunshots rang out about 10 minutes after it began, prompting hundreds of people to flee for shelter.
An eyewitness who was present at the show stated that people fled the scene when they heard gunshots, screams and screams.
She also saw to it that hundreds of revelers – some of them covered in blood – fled the scene, abandoning their belongings and possessions.
