The home of Bayern Munich striker Thomas Müller, who celebrated his 33rd birthday on Tuesday, was robbed during his team’s Champions League match against Barcelona, German newspaper Bild reported on Wednesday.
“On Tuesday evening, unidentified persons robbed a house in Utterwing and stole money, jewelry and valuables worth 500,000 euros,” the local police said in an anonymous statement. According to Bild, the villa belongs to Müller, who took part in the match that ended with his team’s 2-0 victory over former Polish player Robert Lewandowski and his colleagues from the Catalan club.
The events took place around 22:00 local time, that is, with the beginning of the second half, in Otterwing (south of Munich), about forty kilometers from the Allianz Arena. Police said at least two of the thieves managed to escape when their officers arrived minutes later, and despite an extensive search, the perpetrators were not arrested.
