The African Union has called on the army and the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan for an immediate ceasefire. African Union Commission Chairman Musa Faki Mahamat said in a statement that he is closely following and deeply concerned about developments in the Republic of the Sudan and called on the political and military parties to find a just political solution to the crisis in that country.
The statement said that today, after the situation has spiraled out of control, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission is issuing an urgent appeal to all parties for an immediate end to the violence.
The Chairperson of the African Union Commission called on the international community to work together to bring the parties to an immediate end to military clashes and return to the negotiating table to reach a solution to this crisis that would satisfy all parties.
