Embracer, the publisher, is working on five The Lord of the Rings video games, all of which are scheduled to debut in early 2024.
The franchise license holder for video games, Embracer Group, validated the information in its most recent financial report.
The report’s business and development section on entertainment services states that there are five games now being developed by outside partners for release in the fiscal year 2023–2024. By April 2024, all Lord of the Rings video games will be available.
According to Embracer, the publisher’s purchase of Middle Earth Enterprises “has generated a lot of interest among internal and external partners for the Lord of the Rings IP, across different media types.”
Information regarding the upcoming games and the creators that are making them needs to be more present. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, created by Daedalic Entertainment, is the only game officially announced with a Middle World setting.
Although the game’s release date was initially set for 2019, there will likely be more playtime soon. Gollum casts the title character, a ring-obsessed individual, as the lead in a “story-driven action-adventure” that coexists with The Fellowship of the Ring’s events. Gollum from The Lord of the Rings is scheduled for release in 2023.
Embracer’s third-quarter financial report shows a 128% rise in net revenues over the same period last year. The publisher, which deals with PC/console, mobile, and tabletop gaming, claims that it presently has 31 AAA projects in development, 19 of which are expected to “launch before March 2026.” Dead Island 2, Homeworld 3, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, and Payday 3 are among the major releases that have already been confirmed.
A collaboration between Embracer and Amazon Games to create and release a new Tomb Raider game has also been confirmed.
