The Brazilian Football Confederation has denied reports by some media that an agreement has been reached with Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti, who oversees Real Madrid and will lead the Selesao national team.
He continued, “The matter (of the new coach) will be dealt with transparently and the chosen coach will be announced in due course.”
And Ancelotti, 63, said from the Moroccan capital of Rabat on the eve of his team’s participation in the Club World Cup final against Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal that his goal is to complete his contract with the Royal Club.
Asked during a press conference he held before the final match, he said: “My situation is very clear: I have a contract until 2024.”
Brazil, a 5-time world champion, has been looking for a coach since Tite, who took over in 2016, stepped down from his technical duties after Seleção was eliminated in Qatar’s World Cup quarter-finals against Croatia on penalties.
Among the candidates put forward for the post of head coach of the Brazilian national team, the Spaniards Luis Enrique and Pep Guardiola, the Frenchman Zinedine Zidane and the Portuguese José Mourinho stand out, according to media reports.
