US President Joe Biden said today, Friday, that the commander in chief is sometimes allowed to take confidential documents home with him, depending on the nature of those materials and the area of the demonstration.
Washington – Sputnik. Biden’s statement came in response to questions about the federal investigation into the storage of potentially classified material at former US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
Asked if it is acceptable for the president to take home classified materials, Biden replied: “Depending on the circumstances, for example, I have a closed cabin in my house away from the place, which is perfectly safe, and I will take home with me today [الإحاطة اليومية للرئيس]It is closed, and a military man is with me, and I will read it, close it again and give it to the army.”
Biden added that “the protocols for handling sensitive information depend on the type of document and the security of the viewport.”
The comments followed the release of a planned affidavit used to justify a raid on former US President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home as part of an investigation into alleged mishandling of sensitive defense information.
Earlier Friday, a U.S. court released a document outlining an FBI investigation that led to a search of Mar-a-Lago and the seizure of materials it described as “top secret.”
Trump denies improper storage of classified material at his home and denounced the raid as arming the American justice system against him.
