The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has announced a suspension of broadcasts in ten languages, including Arabic, Chinese and Bengali, due to cost, inflation and license fees, and as part of its plans to switch linear content to digital.
And the BBC has indicated in its announcement that it will cut 382 jobs on the World Broadcasting Service as it attempts to save £28.5m annually on its international services.
By ending the BBC Arabic service after 84 years, the BBC aims to support its strategy of creating a “modern organization and simplified digital leadership”.
